One with Nature

Today I decided to show my son a park I used to come to a lot as a little girl. He has been on this fishing streak since we got back from vacation and that’s all he wants to do. And since yesterday my Migraine rendered me paralyzed to my bed practically I wanted to make it up to him today!

So we ventured off to the Park. At first he kept saying “Mom we can’t fish here. Waters not deep enough.” I thought I was loosing his interest. I told him “keep walking kiddo, there’s something really neat up ahead.” What once was a waterfall or at least as I remember it or recall haha. It ends up being a huge wall of rocks that is so high your not sure what’s on the other side. Kind of mystical if you think about it. I posted one of the photos of the rock wall. Water was trickling through the rocks all the way down into what is the stream but it was much deeper here. So my son was thrilled. I had his interest back!! Yes Mom win!! So I’m beaming with joy. He takes his fishing rod out gets just a few good swings of his line in (or whatever fishing mumbo jumbo you say) and then….line get super tangled in a twig of some sorts.

Needless to say I’m taking photos all the way across the stream he screams…startles the heck out of me. Then asks me to help. Now I know nothing about fishing or cutting a line or untangling anything. On top of that I am woman who loves to have long nails, so add that into your mental image right now. Oh and it’s very hot out. And where this twig was….Directly in the Beaming sunlight!!! So I’m trying to untangle this line. And finally I look at him and I say, Son.. I’m gonna have to rip it. Well he freaks out of course. So I go into supermom mode…I think I can wrap the line around my finger and pull. Kind of like what you do when your trying to get a loose hanging thread off a piece of clothing….Well yea…Do Not Try That Method with Fishing Line. Holy mother of God. That hurt like the Dickens. I screamed in silence haha and tried to play it as cool as I could. But oh my goodness.

So, I said come on kiddo let’s go explore some more and put the rod away for now. He goes…”well unless you know how to cut and retye my line Mom, then yea we can’t fish.” This little kid is a spit fire. He is so knowledgeable. So I looked at him almost laughed and said “yea unfortunately mommy does NOT know what to do but Daddy will fix it when we get home.” That is my go to thing to say…”Daddy will take care of it ” and he does. Most of the time 🤣

Anywho. It ended up being a very relaxing 2 hour hike with my kiddo. being one with Nature if you will. We saw Blue Jays, turtles, chipmunks and salamanders. It was a great afternoon. And now we are getting ready to see my niece!!! So excited. So you know the drill ..

Till next time…
